Yeah I think he stuck the feather in his hat and called it macaroni. In my opinion I think the "it" he was refering to was the feather, but I guess it could have been his hat. Good question!

Hold on I'll ask my 3 year old......................he says he would love maccaroni and it was the horses feather and the town was closed. So, I'm going with the hat.
