Pregnancy stimulates hair growth. After the baby is born, the hair tends to thin out again to the normal thickness. Your hair is probably returning to normal. I've never heard of or experienced hair loss due to breastfeeding!

Okay, found a link that describes this:

Hair loss

* About 3 months after child birth many mothers notice that a lot of their hair is falling out. During pregnancy less hair falls out and the hair is often thicker than usual.
* After child birth hormone levels change. Many hairs stop growing and fall out about 3 months later.
* This hair loss is not due to breastfeeding. Stopping breastfeeding will not change the amount of hair lost, or how fast it grows back.
* Hair loss gradually stops, and thickness returns to normal.

When your are pregnant, your usual rate of shedding (up to 200 hairs a day) can be reduced by as much as 75%, but afterwards your body sheds all those hairs that have been held on to long past their usual shedding time - it's pretty darn disconcerting because it happens quite quicky.
