I'm single, no kids, live by myself, and work Monday thru Friday. It's way too easy for me to put off cleaning. Each day I'm telling myself I'll do it tomorrow. Then Saturday comes and I'm cleaning for hours. Why can't I get myself to clean a little everyday so it doesn't build up on my day off? Where's my motivation?

Oh this is easy! Pretend you have found the ultimate guy or gal that you adore and you imagine bringing them home to your mess.
When I was single I was always tidy ...just in case!. Now try to keep a house tidy with teenagers!

I don't see a speck of motivation coming from this site. I know exactly how you feel. I'm the same way. One thing that does work for me though is to set time limits, you know, I'll give 20 minutes to straighten the living room, I'll give 20 min. to the bathroom, 20 min. for the kitchen (minus the dishes), and 20 min. for my bedroom. I start by throwing a batch of laundry in the washer before anything else. In an hour and 20 minutes I feel as if I've really accomplished something.

The best thing to do is set a timer for each task and you will be motivated to finish before your time is up. Also do one room at a time so you don't get overwhelmed and give up. I used to be the same way, but now that I time it I get it done quick and I feel better when its all done then I can Relax!

Do you like listening to music? If so...turn the TV on the some music and get to cleaning! That way you won't be wanting to watch whatever is on!! And just set aside an hour a day...make it a routine!! It helps more than you think!! I hope that helps...that's what I do!

Flylady says to just do a little bit every day. Just 15 minutes. Today I need to clean clutter from my entryway, which won't be hard. Just put on dinner, and while it's cooking, do something small. You shouldn't be overwhelmed on the weekends. It's really made a difference for me!

you can give yourself a "chore list" (which can just be in your head) and be sure to do one thing from the list every night. i also find that setting a time limit for myself is helpful because i tend to get distracted and before i know it, 5 things are half done, but nothing is finished. if you tell yourself "tonight i'll pick up anythign that doesn't belong in the living room and i'll vacuum, and i will be odne with that in 30 minutes," you shoudl be in good shape by the end of the week. another good habit is to take 5 minutes before bed to pick up after yourself so it doesn't build up.

u dont want to live in a messy home do you? trust me it feels good to come to a clean organized home. just dont forget this . what ever you use when you are done with it put it back..this is where things get messy if you dont follow it. if you dont put the things back where you take them from they will start piling up around you and it will look like a clutter and a mess. and in the kitchen if you have a dishwasher...rule: what ever you are done using and dirty put it in the dishwasher dont leave in the sink..they will clutter up in the sink. and in your bedroom making your bed seems like not a fun thing to do in the morning but it will clean up your room and make it look not messy. and dont forget to put back what you are not wearing in your closet or if dirt in your humper. and try to keep your make up area organized and clean. and bathroom shouldnt be a problem if youi live by yourself . buy one of those spray shower cleaners where yoiu just spray it in your shower after you are done showering and yoiu dont even have to scrub it cleans it itself. do it every morning when you are done showering and there you go a clean shower for you . when you think your floors are getting dirty ( i think once a week is good you can mop or vacuum once a week if you live by yourself)
once you geta hold of a routine yoiu will see how much youi want to keep your house clean and organized. it will reflect on your life as well. and it will always relax you to know that when you come home from work you will be coming to a clean home

Lay down on your floor, face down and with your eyes wide open, breath in deeply. When the dustballs gather around your lips, imagine your friends coming over and feeling like this every time they visit your "home" ( A.K.A. the litterbox) . Now repeat this exercise in the bathroom, the kitchen and any other room you have.

Can I say Ew, Ew, Ew.

Start with one room at a time and clean it completely. You will see the difference and it just may gross you out enought to get moving to do your whole house.
