Chat rooms seem to be for losers and bots so they really are not worth your time.
Yahoo 360 pages are about like Myspace, and you can sort by interests which makes it nice, then just look at some profiles and send a message to the ones you think you might like

go to a website based off a interest of yours. i like art. so i go to deviantart.com.
or you can go to yahoo 360 and search by interest.
