Sticking to and idea, even if proven wrong? Or, Changing your ideas after they've been proven wrong to a more correct one? Is there even a difference between being stubbornly wrong and staying the course?

Sticking to an idea after proven wrong is like lying to yourself. It is better & more honest to admit being wrong. Sometimes we learn by our mistakes but we have to be open to embrace the truth.

When an idea or concept has been Proven Wrong then the a person who is wise Shifts his world view. Sticking to an idea once you Know it is wrong is foolish, example:

Lets say I believe that Trains only run on Tuesdays, and in that belief I feel safe Parking my car on the Train Tracks on all other days. Now lets suppose that I get a Train schedule and find that my belief is wrong, if I persist in my original belief then I am in for disaster and will lose my car and cause a Train wreck.

The example is simplistic I realise, however the point is not. When you persist in beliefs or ideas which you know to be wrong the results could easily become a disaster.

If your idea has been proven wrong, then what's the point in sticking with that idea?

If you're wrong, why would you want to stay the course and end up with a bad result? There's no shame in being wrong. That's only human. Using your knowledge correctly is what wisdom is.

If you are proven wrong (the word proven implies something objective) you must change course otherwise you are quite arrogant & stupid to boot.
