I need to plan a chemistry experiment and need pure nitrogen gas.

Cryogenic Distillation. First you need to purify the air to remove dust, water and some trace hydrocarbon components. Then you separate the nitrogen from oxygen using reverse compression. It's all outlined in the provided link.

This is an extremely complex process. Air Liquide and other companies do this...most people get their air products from such companies.

Since air is 78% nitrogen, you can start with air and remove all of the other gases present in it.

Alternatively, I'm sure there are some nice chemical reactions that will produce N2 as the only gaseous product. If you want pure N2, that might be the easier approach to take.

I'd try Google for a bit and see what you can find.
