They have a lot of mystery to them because I am not very experienced using them.

being an attorney (almost) I am slightly biased. However, doctors and lawyers are good on the whole but, like any other field, there are a number of bad apples that give the rest of us a bad name.

Responding to people that feel we are overpaid, just look at it this way: doctors and lawyers go to school for about 25-30 years total, depending on the area of medicine or law, plus clerkships (lawyers) and residency (doctors), while racking up six figures worth of student debt that has to be repaid. Contrary to jokes, most doctors and lawyers I know work at least 10 and often over 12 hours a day, especially when they are starting out. So, before any of you people that work easy 9 to 5 jobs with your high school or undergraduate educations start complaining, just think about how you spend less time at work, doing less stressful things (because you can't be sued for malpractice like we can if we screw up), and factor all that in to how much we make.

We did more work to get these careers, we have more risk becuase of potential malpractice, and work longer and harder than do the average person. We invest more in our profession, and deserve a greater return.

They exploit people. Lawyers use threats and their so called knowledge of law to exploit clients, doctors cannot make money off well patients, so they keep them sick. Doctors, lawyers, and politicians are the absolute worst. They all need to go away.

Doctors they are okay, well some of them are, nothing so mysterious about them, they are just normal people like you and me, who also needs to pay the bills. Lawyers, they are something, since I have nothing good to say about them, I'll just hold my view to myself... just be careful if you see one.

They are overpaid, but they are frequently "absolutely required", so what are you going to do? Your insurance company can help you research doctors to find the best fit for you, and places like findlaw.com can help you find a lawyer that will be a good fit.

I have the best dr in the world, he listens and doesn't make you feel stupid and lawyers well, my general feeling for them is that they make you feel inadequate

They are professionals. Some are bad and some are good. If you need one, it's best to get a recommendation from someone you trust.
