I am 25 and i just graduated 1 year back with a law degree.I was working as a tution teacher for one year after graduation at a tution centre belonging to one of my close friend and it was not tht hard to get a job at tht time. Now, i feel like i want to practise law but the thing is that, I need to call up law firms and inquire if they have vacancy.I called few places and they dont have vacancy for the post i am looking for. Now, i've developed fear in me and i've stopped calling other law firms for i'm afraid of the rejection.I feel kind of withdrawn to make any moves. If i go on like this, I might not be able to find a job and support for my post graduate education. How do i develop the courage to keep trying and how do i impress the person i talk to when i call them for the job? please advice.

I no how you feel...but believe me when I say its natural to feel fear.Calm down take a few breaths..you have hundreds of agency's that can help you .now if you call first write down all the law firms that our available..this is a start..whats the first thing you say??start by writing down the obvious answers to some of the questions that will be asked and what you need to ask.post an add on Craig's list in your area..its free..do you have a resume ready?? one day I made about 10 calls for my field..3 company's called by the end of the day.Every call i made i checked off ,i also made notes of weather they need some right now ,fax resume call next week.,come in and fill out application...if you no your field you ll do just fine..good luck.

You are not a lawyer. You are just a law graduate, big deal, pass your bar and then ask the question " what is stopping me?" because you still a pee on in the world of business with that law degree. Teach, be a law clerk, get a government job do what ever you want to pay off the student loan.

The real question is what do you want in life. One of the most hardest question to ask. Do you want P**sy, money, fame, do good and ethical thing, what do you want to do to have people reminder you by.

I want people reminder me as a pain in the bu** but keep the humor flowing.

You said you are afraid. AHHHH fear, I recommend Anger. Once you turn that fear into anger you'll grow some Ba**s and the interview will be pretty fun like (blind) date. You'll never know what you'll get but I bet it beats sitting at home watching old rerun of star trek. don't let fear get to you. My sister became a lawyer in FL where there isn't that much Chinese lawyer. She became a lawyer due to fear that her ex might take her kid away from her. Not all fear is a bad thing. It'll get you to face thing you never will face in your life if you don't choose the easy way out and what you'll find is something really great. you'll find your self.

Good Luck

How? By putting out resumes to the firms instead....on a large scale. Get a professional to help you with the resume. Very few employers have regular vacancies but if they get caught without....it makes sense to have your bio in there. They usually want a person who already has a profile though....someone who has already worked in the field.

Also....seek a voice coach in case you sound less commanding than you could do. Laywers need to sound convincing yes? So phone voice matters.....

And do stop being down on yourself.....its not your fault they dont have any vacancies or that you are a newbie....just have a goal in mind and learn to talk the talk of lawyers.

.don't take things personally.if they reject means ..they might not have any vacancies.
