Is there a criteria so you could tell a person is stupid or not? IQ? we cannot test every person we met.

IQ is nothing
just talk to him. but first you have to be a little smarter.
something I noticed..is that . dumb people or not so smart ppl talk more than smart ppl. smart ppl listen.
dumb ppl argue more ..
smart ppl think. or just decide that whatever is not worth arguing over.

This is how I decide. First of all stupidity doesn't have a lot to do with education, IQ or vocabulary. I believe it is more an intrinsic lack of a true perception of reality. I have known some very bright people that have very little common sense and to a large degree are stupid. They are rarely aware of the real deal that is going on around them. They tend to define their reality and then make everything fit to that. This often causes them to make bad decisions and statements and appear stupid. Some of the least stupid people I have met were the least educated and had a very poor vocabulary. When I ask them for help solving a common problem they always come up with intelligent answers. If you really can't tell if a person is stupid or not, then maybe you are. Sorry, just kidding (-: I couldn't resist. Here is a better question. If a person is stupid do they realize it.

Stupidity is merely opinion...
I know some very intelligent people who are book smart but I consider them to be completely stupid for they can't even balance a checkbook !
My criteria for being stupid is if you cannot do the everyday basic things and live well and make the right choices to expand your life and the lives of those around you then you are a MORON.... just plain stupid !!
I am sure everyone's opinion on stupity varies.

A lot of people earn the status of stupid wrongfully. First, there are no stupid questions if you don't know the answer. So, don't get it mixed up with ignort which means, uninformed. If you are asked a question on building a time machine and you say " I don't know", then you are ignort in the matter but if you start making up answers and it starts out like " Well, um, you get a big cardboard box.....................", and you are being very serious, then, yeah, Here"s your sign. Listen to the song by Bill Engvall, it's funny, but perfect examples!

they have been warned by friends not to give away money to strange men on a dating sight..but they go ahead and do it anyways....they forget how much you helped them financially and claim they have no money to even send you a gift card for your birthday. they say "um" and " I don't know" almost every 3 sentences in a conversation that is mainly a monologue...clearly I am stupid for putting up with such a person.

Odds are...if they are from MS or AL...they're stupid! I'm not biased, I promise, but I have lived in three other states and noticed that people from these two states are the most ignorant, stupid people in the COUNTRY!

well, in reviewing the actual definition...thanks to the first answer...if it takes you too long to tell if someone you have met is stupid or not, maybe They are no the stupid one.

Stupid: ADJECTIVE: 1. Slow to learn or understand; obtuse.
when you tell them somthing and it takes them a long time to grasp the concept.
