It depends what the offense was... if it was major (like infidelity or murder) verbally saying sorry will not be enough...... if it was minor ( tactless ways, bumping into a person by accident, taking somebody's belonging by mistake) a genuine verbal apology + hug... or + flowers.... or even an apology letter should do it. It also depends how old the person is... even little kids deserve an apology.... it's good to start showing different ways how to apologize from a very young age... by the way it's never too late to start finding ways how to apologize..... make it as personal as possible face to face or a heartfelt apology through a letter. It really depends who you are saying sorry to.

I do not even use the word "sorry".

(IMO) the word "sorry" implies that one is of a pathetic or incapable nature. Also the word "sorry" is thrown around without meaning or thought as to why one is saying it.

I apologize. I ask for someone to excuse my behavior or my actions.

The best way to apologize depends upon what was done, said or thought.

The best way to do that is quickly and sincerely.

Honestly, sincerely, and from your heart.
Some people believe it's easier to say sorry with flowers, or gifts, or what have you.
The best way, as a femal perspective, is to sit down alone with the individual, and speak from your own lips, and from your own heart. Don't make it into a joke, be sincere. That's always the best way.

A wise man once told me "don't tell me your sorry, show me." Words to live by. Saying I'm sorry is the easy part, not doing what you did to cause the need for an apology is the hard part.

Saying sorry is not an indication of weakness. You have to understand your emotions and yourself and people around you to make a choice. you can not be 'nice' to all the people all the time. Express yourself whenever you want and express freely. This is called EQ.

The important thing is to say it immediately. Do not delay. The way you say? keep it simple. Say, I am sorry!

Actions speak louder than words.
Actions will hence go a long way to reinforce the words, "I truly am sorry."

Compensate for whatever wrong or harm has been done.

Resolve to never do it again.

Beg forgiveness from whomever was wronged, but only after completing steps one and two.

Face to face with the person you wronged and with the right heart or attitude. The bible clearly states that we are to forgive our brother(the one we wronged), and if we do not..God will not forgive us.
