I live in Pasco County FL where a stripper can be arrested for prostitution for being naked. Prostitution itself is illegal in most of the USA as we all know. We see in the news where Mark Foley, a Republican from FL is in rehab now for who knows what against a boy page. And we almost see dailly or hourly of kids being targets of adult sex predators. Is it time we stop making it illegal for adults to consentingly get together? If we make prostitution legal we might get these sick bastards away from kids and make the adies of the night safer, cleaner (diseases), taxable.

Legalizing prostitution won't stop pedophiles from targeting children. A pedophile has a very real mental/emotional problem that prevents him (rarely her) from being sexually attracted to adults. Part of this is an aversion to the give-and-take that is part and parcel of mature relationships -- a large component of pedophilia is a desire to control the partner, and children are easier to control.

That said, what legalizing prostitution will do is create an environment where the activity can be regulated. If streetwalkers all had to take annual physicals and be certified drug- and disease-free, they'd be less likely to pass on STDs (prostitutes are the primary vectors of AIDS in Asia and Africa). This wouldn't stop pedophiles or rapists because neither group's problem has to do with access to sex. It might cut down on the number of new STD cases, and it would even be a source of revenue for the government if prostitutes had to pay income tax like everyone else.

No, since pedophila behavior itself is against the law and what
is considered acceptable behavior by society. I ithink the morality laws are screwed to begin with, namely the example you gave.
The stripper should be arrested for indecent exposure, not prostitution, since it can't be proved that she was selling sex.
If prostitution is made legal, that won't change anything in the case of pedophiles. Their object of attraction is children, not adults, so I don't see how making prostitution legal would help in
their case. I agree what goes on between consenting adults should be legal, providing it is reasonable, and is not already against the law. What would you say in the case of assisted suicides like Jack Kervorkian? That would be a gray area.

Pedophilia is not about sex, it's a disease. It's not that pedophiles can't find regular sex, it's that they get off on the power and fear of molesting young children. It is a psychological disease and legalizing prostitution would not even affect the problem at all.

That being said, there are many other potential social benefits to legalized prostitution - income tax revenue, health care and disease prevention, safety for sex workers from pimps and abusive clients etc.

No. But I think that prostitution should be legal in certain entertainment areas of the country and let the young 18 year olds word their trade and be a bridge. Legalization would ruin the businesses of illegal trade and boy would they be angry. Sorry fellas.

Predators do not pick children because they can not have sex with a hooker. They pick children because they are sickos.

And, just for the record, the age of consent in DC is 16. The boy that he exchanged e-mails with was 16. There was no sexual contact - only e-mails and IMs. Legally, he did nothing wrong.

Legalize prostitution to stop pedaphiles? How does that accomplish anything? There are people out there who specifically like sex with little children.

Bigger government is NEVER the answer to anything (except how to destroy the country).

No-making prostitiution legal is not the answer.
We are too easy and provide only a slap on the wrist for most child sexual predators, such as probation. What we need is tougher laws, with no appeal.

I'm in favor of legalizing prostitution, but not because I think it'll help agains pedophillia. I'm in favor of it for two reasons:

1) What someone does with their body is their own business, period.

2) By legalizing a behavior you take it away from the criminal underground, which by definition makes it cleaner, safer, regulated, and taxed.

"Bigger government is NEVER the answer to anything (except how to destroy the country). "

I assume that this comment was made in reference to making the activity legal. If not, I apologize.

So, if that's your reason for not legalizing it, let me ask you this, how much government do you think it takes to arrest, charge, detain, and prosecute those who engage in the activity?

In Amsterdam where prostitution is legal they have a HUGE pedophilia problem. You see when you promote decedence you get the decdent and warped flocking to your city in droves.

Its a theory. That is basically what the idea is in Europe. They allow prostitution in hopes of decreasing the number of sex crimes. I hate to say it but it seems to be working.
