there has been talk of both doing away with DST and keeping it permanently, I don't know of any legislation that has passed especially for this year. If it had, the media would have plastered eveywhere by now.

I hope it's true, I'm kinda prepared this year, the amount of times I've turned up to work an hour early or late, or evn missed my favourite programs on the evening, if a day off. Some guy even thought I stood him up one year, when I'd left 20 mins before he arrived, thinking he'd done the same. Safe to say it didn't get off the ground!! I am not an observational person at all!

No we're still following the same format setup by benjamin franklin. We have daylight savings as an offset to the earths shorter days in winter north america. it's originally more for midwest farmers allowing them to take advantage of the longer summer days, and allows more daylight time on the clocks to work in the fields.

No, it is merely an urban legend. Everywhere that has observed Daylight savings time in the past will continue to this year.
