yes, the longer the urine sits in your bladder, the more bacteria will grow on it and cause an infection which can eventually spread to your kidneys. its always best to urinate as soon as you feel the urge to go.

Urine is sterile so you wouldn't get an infection if you hold it for a while. On the other hand the longer the urine stays in your urinary bladder the more you are prone to building up salt crystals thus causing kidney or bladder stones. The ability to hold-in urine differs from person to person depending upon how strong your urinary tract muscles are. One can train muscle control but it is not recommended to do it for a long time.

Yes, it can cause an infection. A healthy bladder usually does a good job of indicating when it is full and it is best to use the restroom once we get that sensation.

You can find great information about urinary tract diseases at webmd.com. I used that site a lot when I had some bladder issues and I found it to be very informative. Just do a keyword search on bladder infection, kidney disease and any other issues you are concerned about.

Good luck.

Once you feel like you have to go, you should get to a restroom. Holding your urine can cause bacterial infections such as bladder infections, which will lead to a kidney infection. I am very prone to them and have to be very careful. They are very painful. Don't try holding your urine unless you just can't get to a restroom. Good luck.

It alone doesn't cause infection, but urine is a waste product. You should urinate several times a day and cerataily when you feel the slightest urge. We reabsorb a lot of toxins fro our bladders and large intestines, so frequent bowel and bladder emptying is very beneficial in the long run.
