i have a 5 week old son and my bestfriend has a 8 week old recently my husband and i moved to georgia and we brought the 8 week old down to visit...... all my son does now is cry........ can he get jealous? he wont let me hold him and if i do he cries....... and if so how long will this last? hopeful just until the other baby goes home?

babies can feel when you get attach to someone else more if you have another child the baby will get very jealous so ya the can out of experice i know

maybe you are holding him a little too much with the othor people or the other baby around .......babies can actually get sore from being held too much ........as for being jealous no way not at this age but yes definitely when they get older plus babies usually sleep and recover from the stress of birth for the first month then about 5 or 6 wks along they are refreshed and begin to thats when the real fun begins........goood luck and congrats

I really don't think a 5 week old could be jealous. He's probably just getting older and becoming a little fussy. If this issue becomes a true concern to you, don't hesitate to talk to the doctor.

small babies don't normally get jealous of anything, he might not be feeling good so you might want to check with doctor. Babies usually start display jealousy at one year old or some babies don't get jealous and that is part of personality.

I don't know that a baby that young could be jealous, but there may be other causes of this behavior. Talk to his Pediatrician.

your baby could be sick. ask a health visitor or paediatrician
