Go to the sharpie manufacturer's website.
A remover is available. I purchased it once.
I found it through the website and ordered it online.
Most of the mark was removed.

If your canvas was kind of coated, you could try nail polish remover. If the area is small, you could try to soak some nail polish remover and through the top, leave a sponge on underside of the suitcase to collect the liquid that soaks through.
Otherwise, perhaps you can try something like Oxy Clean on it.

Try a non-acetone nail polish remover, Citrol, or Goo Gone, but test it in an inconspicuous area first.

the reason that nail polish might work is because of the acetone in it.
you can purchase acetone at any hardware store and it will almost certainly remove sharpie ink.

I always use rubbing alcohol to get sharpie ink off of my leather purses, but i've never tried it on canvas. maybe try it, because it works so well on the leather...
