I have about 30 of them that i would like to unroot in order to make room in my backyard - I was wondering how much effort it needs as i was told their roots can go pretty deep - any advise would be very much appreciated

As far as roots I disagree. I had seen some that were uprooted by hurricanes and others that are sitting bundled in burlap ready for planting alongside highways. They seem to have very shallow roots and that is why they always have those stakes and supporting cables on them.

Try pushing one over with a truck or with a block and tackle. If the root ball pops out of the ground quickly then it is just a matter of going after them all.

The worst would be if the root is deep - then just saw them down like any other tree. If you trim them off at ground level the root will rot no matter how deep it is.

You have to get somebody to cut down the trees and then grind the stumps or dig them out by hand or backhoe someone with a stump grinder can do this with little mess an no dirt to fill in afterwords, you just have sawdust so you can lay concrete the same day if you choose ...
