Hello. I have a 1976 Bicentennial penny. It is not copper, more like gold/silver. It also has an engravement of the Liberty Bell and a USA engravement on it. Can anyone tell me if it is worth anything, or know anything about it? Thanks.

You have a comman novelty coin, most likely issued by the Littleton Coin Company. It has been soaked in Mercury which causes the gold/silver two tone coloring. technically, it is worth one cent, however I have seen dealers paying 10 cents a piece, and flea-marketers paying up to a dollar

Back in 1976 all kinds of things were made for the fast buck crowd. You call it a penny does it have Lincoln on one side and the Lincoln memorial on the other. In other words is actually a penny (cent)? If so then someone plated it and added the liberty bell and USA. If it is not actually a cent, then it is one of hundreds or thousands of medals or medalette made for the celebration. There were so many different things made that I am not sure all of them made it into books. One thing you can do for they have far more books that I do, is to Email Answerman2@aol.com but it would be better to get a picture of it and instead of an Email sent photo to Coin Clinic, Numismatic News, 701 E.
