You need to closely inspect it for alignment problems or possibly something is broken. Some parts are sheet metal and can get bent out of alignment. If you dont want to spend time trying to figure out how the mechanism is supposed to work and what went wrong just take it to the dealership. But make sure it secure before you drive it or the hood could fly up while your driving

I think you are saying the initial catch works but the hard lock does not. I would recommend oiling the whole mechanism.

The cable that initially opens the hood, by pulling the handle in the car, may be jammed or broke and is keeping the lock from going back to "lock". Check it out and if you can't find anything wrong, take it to a good mechanic. You don't need a windhield full of hood IF the secondary catch turns loose. Good luck. Pops

Probably a question you should ask in the Automotive part of this site, don't you think? Especially considering a vast majority of people on this part of the site can't even drive yet.
