Realistically it all depends on how much money a person has, but a poor person living in a well-taken care of area will just find the "bad" parts of town as more revolting and less suitable for their own lives, and will more than likely be the criminal in the area. However, an affluent person growing up in a bad area of town(as I was) will generally get a more balanced view of reality for most people. He'll see houses that are falling apart, cars and homes getting broken into, vandalism, assault, drugs. Most affluent kids in affluent neighborhoods don't understand real suffering because they were insulated from it their whole lives-which is why rich kids grow up to be assholes. Quality of life doesn't really come much into play as far as anything tangible is concerned, besides a person wanting to be more orderly. I've seen nicer houses(interior) in Detroit's ghettos then I've seen in Ferndale, Wa(average median house value=$175K, median household income=$70K).
Also, growing up in a higher quality of living area will probably lead a child to being more exposed to drugs then he otherwise would be in a lower-quality area, but the lower-quality area will see more violence.

Children who grow up in poverty have to find their own entertainment. They become more self-reliant at an earlier age, develop imagination and creativity and learn to solve problems of survival.
