Uhh, if you aren't familiar with IT and computers to a high level, you shouldn't be doing anything with the system registry. I'm not sure why you're even looking there.

Internet speed is controlled by a few factors:
1) Carrier (ISP - Time warner, Comcast, Yahoo DSL, etc)
2) Bandwidth (____ Megabits)
3) Signal Quality
4) Computer speed (how many Mhz or Ghz your computer is running)
5) Bandwidth usage (Are you running firesharing applications?)

If you're using a crappy carrier, you might not be getting the best service. Look at the ratings by dslreports to see how well your broadband is working in your area.

Bandwidth is an important issue. If you're running 128 kbps (which most cable companies advertise as their "saver" packages), you're going to be travelling the web at the speed of molassas. Most people would run fine at 1Mbps. Gamers do well at 5Mbps, and hardcore gamers work at 7 - 10Mbps.

Signal quality is also a factor. In cable modems, your signal quality is judged by how many people are using your cable line out. This includes anyone else in your immediate area (apartment complex or housing complex) they are sharing the same cable lines going out. In DSL, it depends how many people are also using that same phone line trunk going out. To test to see if you're getting the most out of your bandwidth, go to bandwidthplace and run their speedtest. If you're not getting anywhere near the quality you bought, time to complain.

Your computer speed is important as well. If you do not have a computer that can handle the amount of data coming in, it can slow performance online, at least from the end-user perspective. If you have at least 1 Ghz, you should be ok.

Bandwidth usage.... if you have a fast connection and good signal quality on a good computer, and are running file sharing apps... stop complaining on yahoo! answers and turn OFF the filesharing app. THAT is what is draining away your speed. It's like turning on all the faucets and flushing the toilets in the house, then wondering why the shower water pressure is low.

You might want to try using a registry utility. I have made use of StompSoft's Registry Repair in the past to clean up my registry. This resulted in faster boot times and some over all streamlining of daily running processes. Though, I am not sure if it will affect you Internet speed, as much as it can make you computer run quicker and smoother and possibly resulting in faster processing of web pages.

Don't mess around with the registry. You can screw things up royally unless you really know what you are doing. If you want to have better internet speed get a faster connection. Also have a good virus scanner, AVG Free Edition is good. Also use Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy to get rid of Spyware. An advanced tool call HiJack This will get rid of annoying browser hijackers, but it's not for newbies.

On youtube, there are movies of men filming themselves in entrance of the laptop while breathing in deeply from pot. What finishes up taking place is that they cough their idiot heads off till they faint. I do not know if you happen to've noticeable them or now not, however they are kinda humorous. Anyway, I wager the ones men have hemorrhoids. :D
