Ok.. I need suggestions. I have a log that was eaten out by termites, and I have it upright in a pot and I want to put something in it and use it as an 'ornamental' pot. I'd prefer a hanging plant, or something that weeps. The log is only about 1.5 metres high and 30 centimetres in diameter. I'd like something red, either as the foliage, or flowers. I have a white stone pot, and at the base of the log, i'm planting Black Mondo Grass.. Aussie Natives would be first preference too, but anything that looks good will do :P .. Thanks.

This place has some nice, unusual plants. Have you thought about grape leaf ivy, very nice trailing plant.

How about one of the ground covering grevilleas such as G. Poorinda Royal Mantle or G x gaudichaudii, or perhaps the new ground covering wattles (acacia). They will grow down because of gravity. The Sturts Desert Pea would need perfect drainage and full sun to survive this situation.(maybe not possible). Good Luck.

well my first thought was mondo grass but i think some succulants are great too (maybe a Sedum) or for a relly exotic native get a Kangaroo Paw or Sturts Dessert Pea.

Columbines - they have some great two-tone ones that just look dazzling and delicate draped over something as background, like Mondo grass.
