Wandsworth council have fined me despite showing them proof later it was valid just displayed it the wrong way round. What do you think...? Is that fair. Has this world gone mad? The parking departments are ruled by mini Hitlers. What do you suggest.... if I get some good repsonses I may just PRINT all this off AND TAKE IT TO MY APPEAL HEARING - I refuse to let those cowboys take money off me until I have no more breath left in my body!

OK in case of ANY confusion - of course I was with my mother taking her to Doctors. I would NEVER use the disabled badge for my own purpose. I cannto beleive some of the repsonses - fair enough but to still be fined when you have shown a valid permit is shocking because people make mistakes. Gosh Orwell was right!!

You might want to delete this, ask the question a different way without including references to "those cowboys" if you intend to print this and show it in court.

I think whoever fined you was being difficult.

I can understand your frustration at getting a ticket, but in fairness to the traffic warden, ( oh it really hurts to say that ) if the badge was displayed the wrong way round then the expiry date would not be showing, and he /she was only acting on his/her orders.

I would have thought however, that when you contacted the Council and produced the badge then they would have cancelled the ticket.

Bear in mind though that the Council would have no way of knowing that the badge you showed them as evidence didn't necessarily have to be the same badge you were displaying on the day in question, so perhaps that is the reason they refused to cancel the ticket.

While I am not implying you were abusing the blue badge scheme, it is constantly ignored by non-holders who simply park in disabled bays, and I feel this is where the Councils should enforce the parking restrictions. Supermarkets are a disgrace in the way they allow the bays for disabled to be used by anyone.

As I said before, I can understand your frustration, but think you should simply pay the fine and make sure the next time you use the badge you display it in the proper manner.

Best of luck with your appeal.

What a joke, some councils will do anything to make money. Could the idiot not read it just because it was the wrong way round. Perhaps they were an illegal immigrant with no good grasp of English or perhaps they are on one of these points for prises schemes that you read about in the papers. Don't let this drop, fight them all the way. Go to the sun newspaper, they love a story like this. Good luck

And? you're leaving a lot out here. Were you using your mother's badge just to park, or was she with?

If she was with, you still don't have any defense. It needs to be displayed as required by law. It's like putting your license plate on backward, and then complaining that you shouldn't have been stopped and ticketed, because after all you have a valid plate.

Pay the fine, and from now on, do it right.

Nonsense to compare it with putting a licence plate on the wrong way round. Not saying that this was the case here, but one of the biggest abusesof disabled badges is that they are freely used by non disabled persons as a photo of the disabled person is not on the badge.Another major abuse is the amount of spaces on roads reserved for so called disabled persons. How some of these people who are patently not so disabled as to need a space adjacent to their homes, manage to get a reserved space ,beats me.

It is obvious you think you have been fined inappropriately. If you have the time and energy to fight this, I would say do it. Also call the local paper - they usually love to fight city hall...

In my state, the tag has printing on both sides, but since your car has windows, this should not make any difference. Check with your department of motor vehicles about how the tag should be displayed.

your mums badge ! If she wasn't with you then you deserve whatever fine you get! As a GENUINE disabled driver (polio at the age of18mnths and that was 57 years ago !!) it really gets me annoyed at the abuse of the blue badge system. The instructions for displaying are very clear.
