Since your Computer is rather new, it should already have the Ethernet Chip on the Systemboard ( you will see an Ethernet cable Port at the back of the Computer ) or there should be a standalone Ethernet card. All you need now is Broadband (Cable or DSL) Account / Connection to go onto the Internet.

Most computers come wih ethernet built in these days.

Some modems also allow USB connection. Correct.

It depends on your dsl modem. Many have an ethernet port, and a usb port, so you can use either.
