I wouldn't bother. The storywriting is really uneven, and as the show goes on, it becomes uncomfortably racist and regurgitates a lot of really terrible and destructive myths about trans people, polyamorous people, and completely ignores its lone bisexual past the first few episodes of season 1. The writers clearly know nothing about Latinas and write a Latina character that is highly stereotypical and played by a woman who doesn't even properly speak spanish. They kill off a popular character in the third season in an extremly convoluted way to save money. And the characters are so inconsistant. In season 2 Tina is a wronged lesbian lover, in season 3 she is suddenly all about dick. It makes no sense.
I think that women in our community are so desperate for lesbians on tv that they will accept offensive poorly written dreck. I would stay the hell away. I wish I could get those hours of my life back.

The pilot episode was not exactly a typical L word episode. In fact, season 1 in general was a a little slow to pick up. Season 2 was much better (just wast episode 2.10, you'll know what I mean...). Season 3 was the most emotional one, full of ups and downs. In general, I think it's a show worth watching and no, it's not all about gloomy lesbians moaning.

I love love love this show and im waiting impatiently for the 4th season to begin. U should back watch the past episodes because it's actually quite entertaining. I think it's some type of rule or trademark of the director for it to start off a little slow because i think all 3 seasons have done so but girl....im telling u, by the 4th episode they start hitting you with deep relatable issues. Im addicted. I got my girlfriend addicted. Watch it!
p.s. and if u have any questions about any of the characters or events.....i can help u out! :-)

Hey, i would recommend watching on. There are some serious issues which are brought up during the first series, i was crying at some points!! I really enjoyed the first series, have not yet managed to watch the second series but hope to buy it soon. Trust me it does pick up
and is well worth watching.

My sister loves this show (she is a lesbian though). I only saw one episode and thought it was mediocre. Sugar Rush seems a better show and is very entertaining (I have only seen 4 episodes that my sister got me to tape while she was on holiday).
Personally though I think the best TV show of all time is Doctor Who.

I love the L word. Yes it does pick up. I thought the same thing and now I went and got the 1st, 2nd season. The 3rd season is on pre order. If you don't mind gay culture then you might enjoy it.

I love The L Word. Once you start watching more I think that you will find yourself enjoying it more. I know that whenever I first start watching a series it seems like I'm lost and it's a little slow. Enjoy.
