If indeed the boss never heard the employee say the dreaded comment then she would have a case of wrong full termination. There may be other circumstances which brought the termination on. Perhaps the girl was inefficient, late, or did not fill the requirements of the job. If in fact the boss fired her just for the comment then tell her to go to the labor board and file suit. She may get her wages, be reinstated and get the boss terminated. Companies do not want the labor board looking at them. Good luck,

Unless there are other infractions that are deemed grounds for dismissal then a report should be filed as it could be a violation due to the fact that the information was received by a third party and that could be considered hearsay. Basically anyone can make up a story like that and report to the boss in order to get someone fired. She should file a grievance with the Department of Labor.

I'll hazard a guess and say that the name-calling probably wasn't the ONLY reason why the co-worker was fired -- it was just the final nail in the coffin.
That having been said....unless your wife has a very good relationship with said boss, you may want to encourage her to start seeking other avenues of employment, if the boss is that unstable.

Hate brownnosers. What goes around comes around. Now everyone knows that person is a tattle tail.

I think it's a bunch of crap and she should go to a higher boss. Also if they are all women that is just a disaster waiting to happen.

That's sh*tty, everyone's entitled to their own opinion and if someone thinks the boss is a b*tch, she probably is. I'm sure that's not what she got fired for, the boss lady probably found some tiny little thing and fired her for that....

Well I guess she shouldn't have said it out loud. I've gotten really good of saying things under my breath so others don't hear. The other woman should have just kept her mouth shut. You know in today's society the fired woman just might go "postal" and start shooting the place up.

She have to of had another reason legally, that is for firing her. i mean sure it might have all came down to the boss not liking what one of her employees said about but she couldn't have fired her for that all alone, so apparently she had another reason she used for doing it

Should not have happened..
The boss should have first asked the worker if it were true....
The worker could have then denied it and got the brownnoser
backstabbing ***** fired...
