Hi >
A "fully loaded" question.
Personally I have doubts about a death penalty of any sort, anywhere. Too many mistakes have been made.
So I would say no an inetriable situation
By all means, lock folks away that have taken a life.
And not another one
So they can appeal if they know it it is a mistake of the law or events at the time.
That to me seems sensible procedure.

The worst that I've had is a prosecution for pinching a paraffin lamp. It was not me ! My mate nicked it.

Such mistakes can easily be judged.

I answered this last week .

No, killing other people makes you no better than the perpetrators of the original crime.

Killing someone that did not carry out the crime makes you worse than the person that did.

Its tantamount to mob rule and revenge at any cost.
As for a deterrent it has not been proven to be most crimes are done on impulse or reaction. They do not think about the ramifications.

There are exceptions to the rule but they are people that would carry out their crime weather there was a death penalty or not.

The shortened version-hope you liked it

No, its proven useless. It doesn't work enough as a deterent for it to be worth it. There are more murders in the states that have capital punishment than the ones that don't. Crimes are so complex, you can't just class things as right and wrong. Then theres poor people more likely to get killed cause they can't afford a great lawyer....is that fair? Like someone said before once someones dead theres no bringing them back....

Hanging? That is barbaric,...maybe we should allow a man to beat his wife and children as well.

The death penalty is not fool proof, we have made many mistakes in the US by killing innocent men!

Definately not. Two wrongs do no tmake a right. Besides we have all seen the cases where the judicial system has got it wrong. This is bad enough if you have been wrongly imprisoned, but catastrophic if youhave swung for a crime which is later found to have been committed by someone else.

Yes!
How long can we keep life time prisoners in jail and pay for the
way of life they expect. Some people dont deserve a place in
society and never will - so what do we do keep them in 3 star
hotels.
The money will run out sooner or later - prisons are for the
rehabillatation - not living out the rest of your days with all the
advantages of beign at home.
To deny them just their freedom is not enough in my book they
deserve punishment.

i think in some cases there does need to be a more serious punishment other than imprisionment but i am not sure that hanging should be brought back maybe somehting like the death penalty but depends on the seriousness of the crime committed!

Yes!!..these do-gooders make me sick..the evil that take innocent lives for their own gratification or whatever it is that makes them murder others for them to then go on to lead a life and all too soon be freed back into society only adds insult to injury..just get rid of them and make the world a safer place!!

Never, it is wrong to kill another, these people may have killed others but we would be no different if we did the same. Hard labour would help, not a luxurious life in a cell, with TV, and all mod cons.
