As long as you can connect the Cable Modem to the Router via a Ethernet Cable you should be OK. Trying to configure the Router and Cable Modem to recognize each other is a different matter altogether.

This can be an issue, since sometimes you need the help of the Cable Service Provider to work with you to get this done. So depending on the Customer Service provided by your Cable Service Providers you should do just fine.

WRT54GS works with NTL. But it requires Mac cloning.

With the PC that can get online through the modem using an ethernet cable, access the router's setup page with your browser (IE, Netscape or Firfox) and type 192.168.1.1. Type admin for password unless you've changed it. Look for a sub-tab "Mac Address Clone". Enable it and click on "Clone" or "Clone your PC's Mac". Save.

Power cyle - power down modem, router and PC. Power up in the same sequence. You should be good to go.

Oh, you may need to disable your PC's firewall or Internet Security Software.

Goodluck!

confirm you're utilising bypass over cables between each and every of the devises. the only issues that should not be bypass over are the computers. Many routers try this for you yet some do no longer.

It should as long as you aren't terminating a non-standard tcp/ip session.
