Now I'm not one to gossip and you didn't hear it from me but....
JB's having a good year and it's been a very long time coming. RCR is putting $$ in the cars, the engine guys are building good engines. (I don't understand what's up with the "29" and the "38" cars and their engines?) He's staying out of trouble... If JB don't win it all this year he'll miss a good chance.
He knows how to draft for Tallawhacker, but I do wonder about the endurance of the RCR restricter plate engines. I've never been one of his huge fans because he drove brand "X" cars. What are they called now...But he can race, and with some smarts, just like coming in and doing a 'splash & go' at Kansas. Yeah, he could have chanced it, but he still pulled out a top five finish to protect the lead. One 5th place finish in the hand is worth more than a 'maybe first' or worse, a DNF. At least it makes it exciting for a "more mature" fellow to get his just due. It may not last, who knows, but if RCR keeps putting those engines in that car, the competitors will need a long rope and fast horse to catch him. He is ON FIRE!
Green, Green, Green, Green; Go, Go, Go!

Jeff Burton will be the 2006 Champion if he continues to race like he has been. His cars have been strong in the Chase at the end of the race, something that he wasn't able to do at the beginning of the year. His consistency is just simply astounding, week in and week out he is in the top 15. I really hope he wins, he is a class act guy.

He will win the chase if he scores enough points that none of the other 9 drivers in the chase have more than he does at the end of the season. All kidding aside I want it to be Jr. but I think Mark Martin will take it.

He's done very well so far, and I'm really happy for him. Jeff always has had talent, but got caught up in car wrecks and other things that have ruined past seasons. But this year...wow! I think he's got a pretty big chance of winning. He deserves it...he's been working so hard and his team is strong and doing great. I'll be happy if he wins...and I know Richard Childress Racing will, too!

It's hard to believe that he is the points leader this year. I am not a Burton fan, and I would hate to see Martin win, but I think that with the way he is driving, he and/or Mark may just take it this year.

Yeah, it's possible - he has certainly stepped up his game not only as a driver but with his team as a whole. Good Luck Burton!

If he keeps running the way he has been, he will be hard to beat. He would be very deserving of it too. I would really like to see Martin win it-he has been my favorite driver since 1993. He has had a great career and just fell short on several occasions.

No chance. I dont see how 1 win in FIVE years is coming on strong. Like Mark Martin he will end his NASCAR career with no championship.

he very well is a contender but i hope Denny Hamlin takes it,or Harvick and you cannot count out Dale Earnhardt Jr either he is only 123 points out thats makeable in one race so yeah as long as a chevy wins the cup i will be happy as long as it's not Gordon or Johnson
