Do the itchy shirts have printing on them? The printing might be causing the problem. Sometimes the thread used for stitching the seams or the tag and/or its stitching can cause the shirt to be itchy. Examine the shirts carefully for anything the itchy shirts have in common or for any way they are different from the non-itchy shirts. Dyes, country assembled in, or fabric content might be among the sources of the problem. If the shirts (itchy and non-itchy) have all been washed together with the same detergent and softener, your laundry items should not be the cause. Also make sure it is always the same shirts that are itchy. If it isn't, something you are doing or using on certain days is causing the problem. Good Luck.

Have you been trying different soaps in the shower? There may be a reaction going on there. If this is not the case I would try using a liquid fabric softener in the machine, not the dryer sheets, and put the shirts through a second rinse at the end, just to see if this helps. Lastly, is your water hard or soft? You can use less detergent with softened water; you have to use more with hard. Our water was so hard we had to finally get a water softener. Good luck in solving this mystery!

RE:
how to make itchy t-shirts wearable? Part 2?
Thanks for replies and suggestions. But it's not the laundry detergent, I wash all my t-shirts with the same detergent and some itch and some don't as I said before. Also I've washed some a few times also, but they still feel itchy, is there some thing I can treat them with to get them...

Soak overnight in a bucket with water and a cup of vinegar. Then wash as usual. If that doesn't work then try a different brand of t shirt. Maybe all cotton would work better than a cotton / polyester blend.

I don't know what specific detergent might help, but I think that all you may need to do is to wash the ever-loving crap out of it. You know, wash and dry it once, bury it and dig it up again to get it nice and dirty (to justify another washing so you're not wasting water or gas *lol*), wash and dry it again, repeat.
Sleeping in it for several nights may do the trick too to weari it in. :)
