That's not always true. My daughter was the same way, and she was a tiny baby. I had a great pediatrician, he said I worried too much. He said when she is hungry she will eat. She is 16 now, and she is just fine. It's so easy to wrry as a new Mom, I think I lost more sleep than ever...lol. It gets easier though. Just keep an eye on her, if she loses a lot of weight or if you are still concerned take her to her pediatrician. It can't hurt. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

My 4 month old twins eat every 3 hours. My daughter takes 5 - 5 1/2 ounces and my son takes 6 ounces.
I dont think there is an amount set in stone, but I would check with your doctor to make sure your child is still growing at the normal rate in regards to weight and length :)

Multiply your baby's weight times 2.5 ounces - If your baby isn't eating any solids (as he shouldn't before 4 to 6 months of age), the general rule of thumb is to offer him 2.5 ounces of formula per pound of body weight each day. So if your baby weighs 6 pounds, you'll give him about 15 ounces of formula in a 24-hour period. If he weighs 10 pounds, he should drink 25 ounces in a 24-hour period.
Once your baby reaches 6 months, you can feed him 6 to 8 ounces at a feeding, up to around 32 ounces of formula per day. At this point you should start adding solid foods to his diet, if you haven't already. You'll find that as your baby gets older, he will drink fewer bottles with more formula.
If you're worried that your baby isn't eating enough, take a look at his weight gain and talk with his doctor. She can tell you whether your baby's intake is appropriate for his size and age, and advise you about changes you should make to adapt to your baby's individual needs.

that is between 24 - 40 ounces and that is about right. She should get at least 28 oz a day . Babies eat less frequently as they get bigger but they eat larger amounts and it evens out. A newborn may eat 2 oz every two hours but that is still only 24 oz in a day and a 6 month old who eats a 6 oz bottle every four hours she is awake and sleeps through the night gets 24 oz. So long as your baby is growing normally and continues to wet and dirty diapers daily then she is fine.

Is she still hungry after that? IF so feed her 6 or 8 oz. Are you feeding her in the evenings like cereal? I believe at 5 months I started feeding her cereal. Then closer to 6 months I started feeding her veggies in the afternoon. Then when she was almost 7 I started her on fruits. Now she is eating everything! My baby turned 8 months yesterday. I think when she was 5 months i was only feeding her every 6 hrs. I believe she was eating 8ounces too. Good luck.

I mainly breastfed my baby, and since you never really know how much breastmilk they get, there is no easy answer to your question. I believe that as long as she is gaining weight normally and seems happy and healthy, don't try to feed her more than she naturally wants. Recently I heard that they should not drink more than 32 oz in a 24 hour period. And if you are feeding her any solid food, you can expect her drinking to decrease as well. If you think something is wrong, ask you doctor :) Good luck!

3 ounces every 2 hours would be perfect during the day and every 3 hours at night.

That sounds right. If she seems fine than leave her alone. It does'nt seem like she crys for more. Most five months old drink 4-6oz every 3-4hours.My now 15mth old is very healthy 24pds & never took more than 6oz.If she was starving you would know. You do not want to overfeed her.
