Yes!!Some of them though..I had an encounter whereby one crazy female stalker stalked my brother and ended up hiding beside a car in the carpark while peeping up at our flat.Unfortunedly, the car belongs to a police!Shortly after, the police came up to my flat to "Interrogate" us about the stalker as if it was OUR fault. He was VERY rude and even barked at us! It was after my dad warned him that we have out rights too, that he mellowed down his tone.Maybe they will be friendly to tourists though...singaporeans are mostly hyprocriates!

Yeah, sort of. I had made some police reports in the past (about my lost belongings) before and had encountered many rude policemen occasionally. One guy even mocked at me for losing my wallet....said I shouldn't go to such crowded places and so forth.

They size you up. If you're well dressed and looks "educated", they usually treat you with care to avoid
complaints. In this case they won't dare to be rude to you.
However, if you looks like "Ah Beng" or "Ah Liang", they look down on you and they can be very nasty and rude because they know they can get away with it. This assumption is based on the fact that you have not committed any offence yet. Otherwise, you are at their mercy because they are the law. Tourists obviously get their best treatment as they are not superficial "an beng".

not just s'pore policemen ... those in america, m'sia, indonesia, china - practically everywhere. i think it has something to do with power and authority. they feel the more dominant person between you and him because he has more power and authority than you. so he can be rude and nasty and you have to comply. of course there will always be the good ones around. there must be more of the rotten apples in the barrel for most of us to have this impression.
hope someone high ranking in the police force reads this thread and do something about their image.

try to understand what could cause them to be rude
they are required by their boss, not the Parliament to check
and record every kid under 18 that are not home by 1000pm
THAT a rude and tough job for a neighborhood cop.
