I don't think it's right to shield children from Santa, the tooth fairy, or the Easter Bunny. They are part of American culture, and it would be difficult to go through school and not tell the other children. I was always taught about Santa, he even "visited" me when I was sick one Christmas. I was raised in a semi-Christian home, and always knew the REASON for the season was Christ. I think it's possible to teach children about Santa, and still instill other values.

i love Christ and i know this holiday is for him, but at the same time, everyday is for him, and who is to say that December 25th is his birthday to begin with? Christmas is all about love and sharing and togetherness, everyday including Christmas is about Christ. Commercial or not, its dang fun

No! It subtracts from the holiday season. The innocent joy of children receiving gifts is priceless, and does not interfere with the more serious implications of the season, It reinforces them.
