The circulatory system of a black bear is similar to that of other mammals. The explanation below applies not only to black bears, but all mammals, and also all birds.

Black bears have a 4-chambered heart. The 2 upper chambers of the heart are called the "atria" (singular: atrium). There is a right atrium and a left atrium. The 2 lower chambers of the heart are called the ventricles. There is a right ventricle and a left ventricle.

In order, blood goes through the heart chambers as follows: right atrium, right ventricle, then to the lungs, then back to the heart into the left atrium, left ventricle, then to the body.

The right atrium and right ventricle pump blood to the lungs so that the blood can receive oxygen, which it will later deliver to the rest of the body.

The blood vessel that brings oxygen-poor blood from the heart to the lungs is called the pulmonary artery. The vein that carries oxygen-rich blood from the lungs to the heart is called the pulmonary vein.

When blood returns from the lungs, it then goes through the left atrium and left ventricle, which pumps the blood to the rest of the body.

The blood vessel that leaves the left ventricle to distribute blood to the rest of the body is called the aorta (A-or-ta). The blood vessels that bring blood from the body back to the heart are called the vena cava (there are 2: superior vena cava and inferior vena cava).

Hope that helps!

brown bear, white bear, black bear, kodiac bear... All the bears inthe world are cousins and can have babies with eachother so there is really only ONE kind of bear.... Except a panda bear. It is really more like a racoon and not a real bear. Grisley bear out west and in Alaska can be up to 2000 pounds. A small black bear in Tennessee can be up to 500 pounds but most are 200-300 pounds. Bears are very strong and can run up to 35 MPH because they have 4 legs. Bears eat anything, berries, deer, rabbits but mostly fish and plants. They have to get really fat. In the winter they sleep. When they wake up they might have 2 babies ! Sur

4 chambered heart as in all mammals, but other than that, it is similar to that of a human with veins and arteries and the like.
