I just downloaded a bunch of stuff for my Sims 2 games. You know like clothes and makeup and hair styles. Well I have a family living in their house already and I want them to wear some of this stuff. When I buy a mirror or a dresser those clothes and makeup and hairstyle dont appear in there so I dont know how to be able to get them to dress in it. Someone told me to go shopping and theyd be there, but they werent. Im confused. Can anyone help? Thank you all.

Three possible reasons. When you download, they must go into specific folders.

My Documents/ EA Games/The Sims 2 /Downloads
- this is generally assumed that when you do downloads, you don't use the squirrel method and just drop the downloads anywhere but many people new with computers don't understand that. Every filing system has a hierachy underwhich it works. :)

If you have been dropping the files into the right download area, then at least the makeup should be showing up -- if you have custom content enabled in the settings of your game. To enable custom content, it depends on which expansion packs you own. Everybody's game is not exactly the same - because we don't all have the same expansion packs. Each new addition to the Sims 2 games often adds new capabilities to the game and so some things change a little bit.

To check to see if you need Custom Content enabled, turn on the game, and on the green lefthand control dial, go to where there are three dots and then choose the gears. Look to see where custom content may be disabled. If it's turned on and enabled, then the other reason that your custom content isn't showing up is because you are missing meshes. Look at these settings. You need to get familiar with them so you know what your game is set up to do and what is turned off.

Meshes need to be downloaded into the same download folders with the items and the colors that cover the meshes.

If you have Nightlife, you can make subfolders off of the main download folder to keep it easier to keep track of which artists files you have. If you don't have Nightlife or OFB, then all your downloads must be dumped into one folder, called downloads.

You are not giving near enough info. What download sites did you used, where are putting the downloads, is custom content enabled in your game? Are you getting the required meshes? Of course, few of us are online very much so it's extra typing to try to cover all your bases and still have no idea what your problem is.

A good tutorial is here at Mod The Sims 2:

Join Mod The Sims 2 (it is free) and there are people that come and go online all day (and unlike yahoo answers where people are surfing for points, there are more people qualified to help on MTS2), and someone may be able to help you. Do read their archives and do searches before asking questions. After a while even the most patient people have trouble answering a question like, "Is the earth round? I thought it was shaped like a banana." (LOL)

Good luck
