Depending on where you live and the type of grass you have - you have a couple of different options. You may either wait until the grass goes dormant and then apply a type of pre-emergent (that will essentially kill all of the weeds and pest grasses that are still alive - one such product is called Amaze - available at Lowe's or home depot). Or - you may spot treat the weeds with a product like round up and simply re-seed the dead areas in the spring. I would personally try using a weed and feed before using round up. There are several "weed and feed" products on the market that simply attach to your water hose - just follow the manufactures directions. good luck.

I truly have discovered that a backyard that has many diverse grassses and weeds, can develop into an exceedingly hardy ruch searching backyard that calls for little or no water, is extra drought tolerant, and in elementary words needs ordinary mowing. So what I recommend is you splatter extra grass seed if the backyard is sparse. pick a type it quite is ideal for the region( sunny, shady). Mow the backyard no shorter than 2"-3". reducing in elementary words a million/3 of the height each and every time. Mow after the most well-loved component to the day has surpassed because mowing in complete solar exposes the comfortable newly decrease grass to unfavourable warmth and rays, allowing it to be truly burned and dried out. in reality what you're doing is making particular you're taking care of the grass/ flora you've so that they develop into thick and luxury. even as decrease properly, you may have a desirable diverse backyard fending off the favor for poisons and intense priced fertilizer and weed treatments.

"Ortho" makes a product that will kill the weeds and not the grass. It can be purchased at your local home supply store. It works! Comes in a gallon container with a sprayer attachment. Very easy to use.
