i am trying to figure out a hispanic sports player who has made a contribution to the US.

As a whole, their contribution is that they fill stands. They are great players that make the sport competetive. Very few are involved in the greed and cheating that you find with other races. They have an opportunity to play a game that means the world to them, so they do.

By the way, Sammy Sosa is latino and he's a marquis player if that helps.

If you mean present day look at any line up in the American and national leagues today. Back in 1984 the Detroit Tigers had a superb pitcher named Willie Hernandez. I agree though, Roberto Clemente was one heck of a player and human being!

without a doubt, roberto clemente. a fielder and a superb hitter who had an even 3000 hits. he was tireless in his efforts with humanitarian aid as well. it was, in offering aid in panama, that his life was cut tragically short. would that all athletes, hispanic or otherwise, aspire to such heights.

Roberto Clemente gave a lot to charities before he was killed in 1972.
