The uk uses the term SMS

SMS is the term that I hear and see advertised a lot in Europe-France, Romania, Holland, etc.

the US calls it text messaging as well as Mexico I think-nearby countries.

I have a Sprint cell phone and my text messages are SMS. Sprint Messaging System.

Here in the Philippines we use both. A matter of convenience and i guess also on social standing or status. A farmer will use the word "text" and a yuppie will use "SMS"
