If you ever decide to get a tattoo never let anyone else tell you what to get. Get something that describes/defines you a tattoo makes you unique because you should be the only one that has it.

Please don't just get a tattoo for the sake of getting one!!!
If you can't think of a design, then you don't need one right now.
A tattoo should be something that will is meaningful to you. Remember, it will be there for the REST OF YOUR LIFE.
Don't just choose your tattoo from the selection of flash art hanging on the wall of the shop. Why pick something so generic? A tattoo can mark an event in your life, can memorialize a loved one, or can identify something that's important to you.
If you give it five years, I'm willing to bet that you'll choose something TOTALLY different than you'd pick now. You need to take the time to think of whether a tattoo would really be right for you. If you pick something in a hurry, you may end up with something you regret. And it takes a lot of time, effort, and money to modify or remove a tattoo.
You deserve better than to get a generic tattoo that means nothing to you. Please don't believe that you HAVE to get one right now.
If and when you decide to get a tattoo, make sure you have enough money to spend on good quality, and check out several places before you decide upon an artist.
Best wishes,
AJ

If I were to get a tatoo, it would have to be something that I would really like to keep. Tatoos last forever and I would not want to be like 25 with a young type tatoo. I was thinking of getting Stars around my ankle

where do you want it? what kind of things do you like? one thing to remember, whatever you get, it is there forever. imagine yourself at 50 yr, 70 yr, and what it will look like when it is stretched out and wrinkled. do you think you will still want it, or like how it looks? many years ago i got a rose on my ankle with vines that circle my ankle and a really cool dragon on my back/shoulder. i loved it then. now i am 50 yr and if i want to go out somewhere nice, if i wear a backless or spagetti strap dress, everyone there can see my tatoo. it only tends to send other people into snap judgments about what or who i am. just think carefully about it before you do it. it is great now, but think about your future.

I have 5 tats and each one was spur of the moment (or done on a bet..lol)...but now b/c of why i got them they also have meanings.
*1st was my "aerosmith" tat..heart w/wings..just b/c i was 18 and wanted one
*2nd rose w/peace sign intertwined in the stem (my freedom)
*3rd my son's initials (my ex hubby bet i wouldn't get one, i did so he got his nipple pierced)
*4th tribal butterfly on my lower back (to celebrate my divorce)
*5th my first intitial on my shoulder blade (for my 30th b-day)
My next tat will be a tribute to my brother....
The point is, everyone gets a tat for a certain reason...and whatever that reason is, it means something to them. So if you are getting one just b/c you want to..make it fun. If there is a reason, get one that will symbolize that reason.
The other thing you can do is find a tat studio by references from others (so you know they are good artists) and talk to them about what you like and dislike...they can always suggest one for you. Trust them to know what they are talking about, but dont go to a random studio...go by references of ppl who have had work done by them.
Good luck!!

If you can't "think of a design", then you don't want a tattoo. You want to be like people who have tattoos.
How old are you and where are you looking to put this tattoo?

Go to a tattoo shop and look at the designs that they have on the walls (its called flash)...or you could check out tattooers' websites:
www.nicktattoo.com
www.msdeborahtattoo.com
www.inksmithtattoo.com
or check out Inkednation.com, a community like myspace but for tattoers and tattooed people.

my first tattoo was a butterfly with two roses. I think you have to find something that you like. It depends do you want animals, something fairy tale, tribal...etc. Do some research for tattoo sites.
