One of my friends told me there is a site like netflix, that you pay a montly fee and you can "rent" and return books as you finish them. I spend $5-25 a week for books that I read in 3 days and then never pick up again. The library is way out of my way so that's not an opition. Do you know the website or any other good place to get books cheap?

I know in my city there are at least 3 2nd hand book shops and you pay about 1/4 the price of new ones. Look in the phone book or aske around. if you find one, make one trip if you have transportation, and buy as much as you can so you don't need to make a lot of trips.

Try your local library. It's a lot cheaper, and many of them are online nowadays. I live in a mid-sized city, and I can go online to check their availability at my branch and request them if they're somewhere else. They send me email notifications for books and to let me know that they're due, and I can renew stuff online if I'm not done yet. Sure, I have to go pick them up, but at least I'm not spending all kinds of money each month to ship hardcovers around.

The Netflix model doesn't seem like it would work well for books because books are heavier than DVD's so would cost more to ship.
