Yes the thrill has gone away, and it has gone away for multiple reasons. First, on a personal level, things that used to be a mystery to me are no longer a mystery as a result of getting educated. Things that used to invoke awe are no longer awe-inspiring. It’s the naturally progress of getting older and learning.
Secondly, society seems to be lacking in originality. Take the arts for instance. Everything is being rehashed. Movies are being remade and television series of old are being resurrected in TV and in cinema. In music, almost any band that is currently popular has at least once covered a tune that was originally composed 20 to thirty years ago.
Life sort of reminds me of the old song by the Beatles entitled “All you need is Love”. In it there is a verse that goes “There's nothing you can do that can't be done. Nothing you can sing that can't be sung”. As the song so rightfully notes, the reason why the thrill is gone is because life has become one big cliché. Of course who am I to talk, for I just used a work that I did not create to make a point.

Not at all. The thrill is there daily when I waken in the morn. Life is good if we choose to view it as such, but if we choose to look at everything negative it makes for a thrill-less world.
