hi i had to read this book last year n now ive got to read it this year, aint it cr*p! Well, Scout's a girl but goes by a boys name n she wears boys clothes so say shes a tomboy. Erm..shes really attached to Jem and they are always together although shes getting a bit upset becasue her and Jem are growing apart now that Jem is growing up. Erm.. shes been well brought up and isnt racist like the other kids because shes lived with Cal all her life and so shes used to black people being around, also shes been well educated and feels bad when she gets told off in school for doing well! Its been a LONG time since I read that book in school - well actually I didnt read the book at all and I got caught out - there are significant differences between the movie and the book (I remember something about someone putting something into a tree trunk??) anyway I put what happened in the movie and it wasnt what happened in the book - so my only advice is make sure you have read the book and dont cheat and watch the movie on this one.

The story is narrated by Scout, i.e. everything is from her naive and innocent point of view. That's a good starting point.
