Really it depends on genetics. But lotion is always good because it puts moisture on the skin which I believe will help lessen the stretch marks. Remember that the best hydration from skin is actually drinking plenty of water. Some stretch marks actually come from when you gain alot of weigh, and lose it suddenly. I had twins and didnt really get stretch marks, but once I gave birth my stomach looked like frost on a window pane..yeah crazy. Shhh dont tell anyone I admitted that...

I used cocoa butter throughout my 3 pregnancies and dont have one stretch mark. I do however think this is just luck and genetics! I figured any amount of moisturizing cannot be a bad think so went to town morning and night. I also used a product by Body Shop..this was with my daughter though...13 years ago. Does your mom have stretch marks? If so you will likely inherit them also. There are so many fancy products on the market..like all the miracles for cellulite...yeh right! GENETICS!!! Dont get too taken in by all the advertising hype..save your $$$$$$$$ for when baby arrives! Moisturize yes.....but dont get too bummed out if you get a stretch mark or two...more importantly gain the 'within range' amount of pregnancy weight and exercise..... every precaution taken cannot be a bad thing? Good luck with the pregnacy.............eat well, sleep well. exercise well, and yes moisturize!!

i honestly do not think cocoa butter works on stretch marks. i am 8 months and 3 weeks pregnant and luckily i have no stretch marks on my stomach. i read that if you use a really good moisterizer it keeps your skin from drying out while stretching, whichs causes the stretch marks in the first place. i use cetaphil and have been using it way before my pregnancy and it is expensive ($13+) but really worth it and it tends to last about a month. it keeps you skin moisten and soft and smooth but not oily.

stretch marks are STRICTLY genetics. There is no real way to prevent them except to try not to gain too much weight. I though i was going to be luck i didn't get one until 8 1/2 months all the sudden they popped up over night I'm so mad. Cocoa butter can only help reduce the appearance of them not prevent if you get them or not. Sorry...ask your doc. if you don't believe me!!
good luck and congrats on the baby

Palmer's is what I used during all three pregnancies, and I didn't get a single mark. Apply sveral times a day. Also, drink lots and lots of water. Hydrated skin has more elasticity and won't mark as easily. Good Luck!

i began out making use of palmer's cocoa butter whilst i became into around 4 weeks pregnant, i offered the lotion and the abdomen butter. The lotion smelt very strange, yet I enjoyed the abdomen butter. After some months i found out it wasn't helping with my dry epidermis on my abdomen and that i became into flaking everywhere interior my blouse even after putting pounds of the stuff on! I regarded around and that i stumbled on Curel life's ranges being pregnant & Motherhood moisture cream, after some days i spotted a great distinction, and now it rather is the only cream i take advantage of. you will discover it low-priced at Wal Mart, it rather is concerning to an identical cost because of the fact the palmer's cocoa butter lotion, and it rather is 10 situations the dimensions! I placed the cream on my abdomen, hips, boobs, underarms, facets, butt, inner thighs, outer thighs, and decrease back.
