Barbara Gordon/Batgirl?

I read that on this site http://braveandthebold.net/characters/106.html that Barbara Gordon(the Barbara Gordon from the comics) was 18 years old when she began her career as Batgirl is this true.

In the comics books I think that is true!

Now on the tv show she had to be older since she was already a librarian!

But on the Wb's Batman Cartoon she seems even younger than 18!
