No surprises -- and it wasn't even close.
San Diego was 13-5 against the Dodgers. Overwhelmingly better.
It might surprise you to know in the past 10 years, San Diego has won the NL West division more than any team. Guess how many titles L.A. has won in 10 years.

The Padres get the Division pennant because they beat the Dodgers head to head this year. I think they played 18 times against each other, and the Padres won 13 of them. That is the tie breaker in this situation.

There is no such thing as a tie, this isn't little league. The Pads won the regular season series with the Dodgers, therefore they are the Division Champs, not the pennant winner. They have to win the NLDS, then the NLCS to be the NL pennant winner. Yeah, good luck with that.

Padres; due to w/l record vs. Dodgers....personally as a Dodger fan for life, I think this blows...but hey...the gods of baseball in the commissioners made it so...like the wisdom of interleague play...and why only the american league has the DH..., and let us not forget....having a baseball team in Tampa Bay...or being so incredibly blind as to not see Barry Bonds is on steroids...(Hello!!!...he's only twice the size he was 10 yrs ago!!!)

padres had a better head to head record.....which is a good or bad thing depending on who they play first. the cardinals are a favorite, dodgers get the mets in very winnable series.....GO BIG BLUE

unfortunately the pads do, & thats only b'cuz they won more regular season games against the dodgers this season. either way i dont see the pads going too far in the playoffs.
