Ask your doctor not us. You may need to skip your meds for the day.

Coming from a family full of diabetics, no you can't fast. what my mother does is fast 1 meal and only 1 even that is not good for diabetics. It doesn't matter what type you are even hypoglycemic people are not supposed to fast. It will send you into a diabetic seizure or coma. So I say NO NO NO!

don't even think about it, you have a medical condition that releases you from your obligation fasting will screw with your blood sugar insulin balance you risk being taken to hospital and being force fed at the very least. Instead of fasting completely as an observance give up something you like (do this with guidance from your doctor)

It is possible in very mild cases that you may get away with it but again discuss it with your doctor first. Ramadan is a very important time but remember you must not endanger yourself deliberately in your observance.

What type diabetic are you? Type 1 insulin dependant or Type 2 Non insulin dependant? My guess if you are Type 1 insulin dependant then you probably couldnt safely fast but see your Dr or at the very least have some lollies or something nearby in case your sugar levels drop too low.

I don't know what the fasting requirements are for Ramadan, but if you can have liquids, you might look at your cream soups such as cream of chicken or tomato soup. This would be to maintain your carbohydrate balance.

Personally, I would check with my doctor.

If I can be of further assistance, let me know.

I am not a Muslim but I recently heard some doctors discussing this (who were Muslim) They said that the teachings are clear; you should not fast if you are ill and need food or medication.

I would suggest you give up foods that you particularly enjoy and thereby enter the spirit of the fast while maintaining you blood sugar and health.

Whilst I respect your desire to comply with the statutes of your religion, you are permitted to avoid fasting if your health requires it. At the very least you should regularly check your blood glucose with a good meter & test strips. Your treatment, if any, may need to be modified. Try to check with your specialist if you do not know how to do this.
You can cause permanent damage if your blood sugar goes outside safe parameters.
May your god go with you.

You need to talk to your gp as we don't know what type of diabetes you have. And you also need to get advice from your religious leader. I was told that if you're ill like this you're excused from fasting.

It is best you dont, but because you have diabete's you don't have to fast. According to the Qu'ran you don't have to if you are traveling, elderly or young, ill and some others I can't remember.
