don't get an Acer or Compaq pc. they're unreliable and alternative drives value plenty (i've got had to can charge $six hundred to get a alternative DVDpersistent and deploy it). i will't definitely say that HP are that great the two. For any pc under $1500, Dell is the suitable on account that, for the cost, they're the main reliable and are the suitable fee, overall performance sensible. you besides mght get greater customization in case you purchase from Dell. Toshiba and Asus are reliable, yet given which you spend over $1500. in case you do no longer, you will get a pc equipped in China, and that they seem somewhat greater unreliable than their laptops taht are equipped someplace else.

Use the money to buy parts and build the system yourself. You'll get a computer with much higher specs for a much lower price. The rig I use cost me around £700 to build, the pre-build equivilant being around £1500-£2000 at the time.
Dont be put off by the thought that its hard... it isn't, and you dont need to be a pro to do it.

Dell is probably going to be your best bet, but try http://www.pricewatch.com and see what alternatives are out there in your price range.
