*** - For those of you unable to grasp the point of this post - it's designed to do nothing more than to get people thinking about what they can do to help world hunger... clearly McDonalds is not the way... everyone knows Burger King are far superior... althought Xiao Mei makes a compelling argument also....***

Famine is caused by man's evil actions or natural disasters. My proposal is to parachute Chinese people into all countries suffering famine . We are very good at opening restaurants. And our cuisine is more healthy than McDonalds.

there is 3rd world hunger as a direct consequence of 3rd world debt, which caused by globalisation - the western countries - USA, UK etc etc tried to industrialise Africa and other poor countries and this created massive debts in poor countries and they don't have strong enough economies to pay back the debts. The political instability and environmental problems suffered in these countries also cause hunger as not everybody can get food during in a political crisis, and in environmental disasters crops are destroyed leaving people to starve. The economic situation prevents these countries being able to deal with hunger crises.

McDonald's is the worst food you could give to starving people. These are people who are so malnutrition that rich, greasy, unhealthy food would almost kill them right after they ate it. Plus, who could afford it? I saw a special about AIDS in Africa two weeks ago and the anchor on CNN said that people work all day to earn $1.00! Even the .99 cent menu is too expensive.

No, we need to ship seeds to these people and operate in fair trade, which allows us to directly buy crops from the people, instead of working with corrupt governments that horde all the food and money that rich governments (like the U.S.) give them.

As an Argentinian, who sees hunger around, I don't find your "joke" funny. Some people here live on 0,33 U$S a day! Where would they find the money for a hamburger? Besides, THERE ARE McDonalds all right. But hamburger is not real food. It's junk food.

I spent 3 months in a Romanian Orphanage in 1991. It changed the way I view my world. You need to travel and experience the misery of these poor innocents to truly understand their pain.

Your attitude is heartbreaking and foolish! There are far more useful ways to raise awareness! Laughing at them is just plain nasty.

Far more useful to get off your bottom and DO SOMETHING YOURSELF!!!!

Seriously dude'...

Culture has a lot to do with it. The developed world simply doesn't understand that its a little difficult to build 'anything' (let alone a McDonald's) in amongst the worst floods or the worst draught or heavy gun fire or........see where I am going with this?
