I did study French in high school, but I've already forgotten a lot of it, I also know like, a tiny amount of German and Spanish.

It can be important to speak more than one language. I am fluent in 3 and can pass muster in another 2. I find that this is unusual in England (or have I just been meeting too many stupid people here) . The reason I give is that the UK is an island so has no direct contact with other countries on a daily basis . People born on a continent tend to learn another language because they have close neighbours who speak another tongue. Ofcourse , for the English there is also the fact the their language is really the international language.

I'm fluent in English because I was born in the UK and have lived here all my life :-)
I know a little Spanish and would like to become fluent.
I'm trying to learn German and would like to become fluent.
I'd like to learn and become fluent in Catalan.
Knowing several foreign languages is great fun because you can get to meet more and more interesting and fun people, the process of learning is just a laugh and some of the possible conversations you can have are just too fun to mention :-)
Probably the most interesting is Klingon. From the science-fiction world of Star Trek, the fictional language of Klingon has evolved, entered the real world and has people speaking it across the world. In itself, that is very cool and very impressive.
But then you must wonder when the Klingon Language Institute (they really exist, I promise) decide to translate the Bible into Klingon - however they really did but they did find it slightly difficult on occasion :-/

I speak fluent Italian, I had Italian grandparents who taught me to appreciate and understand other cultures as well as their language, I love the Italian language its very sexy and strong, I speak a little French and German, in the process of learning Spanish and would love to learn Russian one day too, I think its very important to try to learn other languages, why would I expect anyone from a another country to speak my language if I know none of theirs, it works both ways.

I speak English, French and German fluently. Have smatterings of various other languages e.g. Turkish, Spanish, Cantonese and Russian. Living outside the country of your mother tongue helps, but you also have to want to communicate.

I am always wondering what people have to say about things, so it is my motivation for learning languages. People who don't learn another language have chosen to greatly narrow their contact with the world. I don't understand it because I am not that way.
It is very important to me to hear opinions from lands other than my own, so I have always studied languages. I have studied Spanish, Italian, and Russian.
I swear I will learn written and spoken Chinese before I die.

Yes I think that's important. I speak Croatian (born there), and I've learned in school English (fluently), German (less fluent) and Hungarian (just basics). I'm also trying to learn Chinese.
