Probably comes from Anne Rice's writing. If you look at her books, they are mostly set in New Orleans and the islands etc. Perhaps some reggae writers have picked up on this.

You'll need to be more specific. There isn't even any real reggae anymore. Its just reggaeton, where everyone listens to the same song at the same time in seperate cars, at seperate parties. No vampires there.
