'make poverty history' what a silly thing to say, it's a pretty stupid soundbite, i mean what is poverty, where do we draw the line. imposible to achieve. can't you come up with a more realistic aim.
Gang of four had a much better song title 'to hell with poverty'
but to answer your question as best i can, if everyone in let's say, the music industry that's made over a £million in profit decided that the rest of their earnings would go to help the situation in Africa and surrounding areas, well that would go a long way to helping. What do you think Bono?

make an assisdous to reach out to the poor and needy. let it not be a dream but a reality . let us cut across all barriers of race class and religion and firmly belueve that the right to live a decent life is the fundamental right of every man only and only if we can get ouselves to understand this concept we will consider every other being our brother and put an end to poverty and misery.

That poverty is caused by lack of freedom. The best way to end it would be to have free enterprise in those countries.
You will never end all poverty though because a lot of it is caused by the people who are in it.
